When living outdoor pigs seek their food with their snout all day long. As the modern way of raising pigs is to keep them on close barn, they cannot seek for their food anymore Consequently, they try to compensate this lack of a natural environment with shewing and biting every object in their living area. If there is not such a possibility then pigs are under stress that could drive to abnormal behavior and even to an aggressive attitude against others. This innovation is part of a range of pig’s welfare object that respect their natural behavior and especially this need of search the ground with their snout in relation to their skeletal morphology. This new item that we call Distripaille, is a stainless-steel feeder where we can store a big amount of straw: pigs have to use their snout to interact with a mechanism situated at its base and get straw strands as an award. When doing so, our guided idea is to create items, tools that allow pigs to live in an environment free of stress.
The distripaille is distributed by RV-BIOTECH.
