Assistance with breeding and the lack of technical references is the main obstacle to the development of alternative rabbit farming systems, such organic systems. GAELA helps to meet these two objectives. GAELA is a smartphone application that allows farmers to enter their breeding data on a tablet or smartphone. GAELA is also an assistance tool for the management of the farm with a calendar of daily tasks, and a decision-making tool (analysis of the performance of breeding stock or the herd). GAELA is a participatory digital tool and is building a national technical reference system for alternative rabbit farming.
GAELA is ergonomic and easy to use, and does not waste the breeder's time. INRAE owns the GAELA application and database, in order to provide an associated public service (training, technical progress, updates). GAELA is currently used by about thirty breeders and will be distributed more widely.
